How Workflow Works: By Product Configuration
The Essent Business Management System allows companies to define the activities and processes that make it successful then build them into the system.
There are multiple ways to configure workflow throughout the transaction lifecycle – all definable by the individual company, such as:
Product Configuration
Example: Indicating that the product configuration includes new artwork can initiate tape-creation and proofing workflows.
No two transactions are the same. In some industries, like the promotional products industry, every order is customized. So product configuration becomes a crucial yet also often complex exercise.
In the Essent Business Management System, product configuration presents itself as a simple series of survey questions. Each product category and subcategory can have its own product configuration survey, and the answers can initiate workflows.
For example, answering that the product configuration includes new artwork can initiate tape-creation and proofing workflows (incidentally, the survey response in addition to triggering workflow will also automatically add a tape-creation charge to the order).
Appropriate staff then will be automatically alerted to the work that needs to be done before the transaction moves to the next step. For example, the system will know that the artwork approval needs to be carried out before the sales order is converted into a purchase order.
Building an order in the Essent Business Management System helps define the workflow needed to complete the order.
