How Workflow Works: Manage by Exception
The Essent Business Management System allows companies to define the activities and processes that make it successful then build them into the system.
There are multiple ways to configure workflow throughout the transaction lifecycle – all definable by the individual company, such as:
By Exception
Example: If an order falls below the minimum margin, configurable workflow can initiate additional approval processes and activities.
A business management system with configurable workflow makes it easy to manage by exception, a practice where only issues outside of routine operations are brought to the attention of management.
The system can be configured to initiate workflows when exceptions are met.
For example, if an order falls below the minimum margin, configurable workflow can initiate additional approval processes and activities. For an order that’s larger than a company usually handles, the system can initiate workflow for the extra attention that order may require. Or for an order that’s cancelled, the system can initiate processes and activities to reach out to the would-be customer and find out why.
By definition, most orders are routine. When exceptions occur, however, a business management system with configurable workflow can notify management and initiate the extra tasks required for the exception.
